Swimmin'

Hey Lisa and Sarah (and whomever else may decide to peruse this little online adventure)-

This week and last I've done something with Branch that's big in my world, and big in my family's... we went swimming :) Swimming is an activity that has dominated activities for the majority of my life, and it's only fitting that I now give B no chance whatsoever at differing his fate from mine. His mama and his Grandpa Connor both coach swimming, and his mama could swim before she could walk. Or so says Grandma Connor... SO!

We hit the YMCA pool last Monday, with swimmy diapers from Auntie Lisa and bathing suit (probably) from our friend Tate. Lisa took pictures for most of the event, and for the better part of 30 minutes Branch seemed to enjoy himself :) I blew in his face, making him temporarily hold his breath, whereupon I dunked the kid three times. No, not in a row. There was sufficent time in between dunks for Branch to either a) forgive mama for the water up his nose or b) forget entirely the event even took place. Either way, three dunks, both times we've been.

Branch also kicks his feet, splashes with his little hands, and puts his face under on his own accord. There also is the strange talent of holding on to the ballet-like-bar on both sides of the pool, with both hands, and placing his feet on the wall; negating the need for a mama-float. He just hangs there by himself, checking out the scene. This last time, there was an older gentleman playing water basketball, so, B hung on the bar and spectated. I spectated too, but I was spectating the spectator.

I'm glad I can get Branch in the water so early. Again, I'm lucky as all get out to be home with him, and I'm trying to make the most of my time... except for those really cold, rainy days like today. We made the most of hanging-out today, at the homestead.

We'll swim again next week, of course. Hopefully twice if I can manage it, and if Branch can, too.

What strikes me during these little "lessons" is that Branch is totally, completely trusting in his mama. He's not scared, he never fusses... he just hangs on for the ride at the pool.

If mama puts him there, it must be okay.
